What actually happens during a hydrofacial?

It's a three-part treatment in one pass: a vortex tip exfoliates and loosens debris, gentle suction clears it out of the pores, and hydrating serums are infused at the same time. You're not just removing — you're replacing what comes out with what your skin needs.

Does it hurt? Is there downtime?

No and no. Most clients describe it as a cool, slightly ticklish pressure — many fall asleep. You leave glowing, not red, and you can go straight back to your day, makeup and all (though your skin will look good enough that you may not want to).

How is this different from a regular facial?

Consistency and depth. Manual extractions depend on hands and pressure; the vortex technology clears congestion evenly without the squeezing, pinching, or post-facial redness. And the serum infusion happens while pores are open and clean — timing you can't replicate with topical application afterward.

Should I add dermaplaning?

It's my most-booked combination for a reason. Removing the surface layer of dead skin and vellus hair first means the hydrofacial works on fresh skin, the serums absorb better, and makeup sits noticeably smoother. If you have an event coming up, this pairing is the move.

What's the "calm + repair" add-on?

A finishing step built for stressed, reactive, or barrier-compromised skin — it takes the treatment from "clean and glowing" to actively soothing. If your skin runs sensitive, runs hot, or has been through a summer of sun, this is for you.

Is it safe for sensitive skin? Rosacea? Darker skin tones?

Yes — this is one of the most universally tolerated treatments I offer. No heat, no aggressive acids, fully adjustable intensity, and safe across all Fitzpatrick types. For active rosacea or very reactive skin, I adjust the protocol — which is exactly the kind of thing we sort out before you're on my table.

How often should I get one?

Monthly is the sweet spot — your skin cell cycle runs about four weeks, so a monthly hydrofacial keeps you consistently ahead of congestion and dullness instead of periodically rescuing yourself from it. As a one-off before an event, book 2–3 days ahead for peak glow.

Will it help with acne? Blackheads?

It's excellent for congestion, blackheads, and mild breakouts — the extraction step clears what manual squeezing can't reach cleanly. For inflamed or cystic acne, it becomes one piece of a bigger plan rather than the whole answer, and I'll tell you which one you're looking at.

Can I get one if I'm also doing peels or microneedling?

Yes — it slots neatly between corrective treatments as maintenance, with proper spacing. If you're in an active peel or microneedling series, we'll time it so it supports the plan instead of interrupting recovery.

How do I know which version to book?
